DSAB Emergency Fund Application

The purpose of the DSAB Emergency Fund is to provide financial assistance to individuals with Down syndrome and their families. The funds are limited and will be granted on a first-come, first-served basis. They are available to individuals who are unable to obtain help through other social service channels and need something tangible that will help solve an immediate problem. The maximum amount of assistance is $500 per year.

All awards are subject to the DSAB Emergency Fund Policy. Determination is not made on the basis of race, color, creed, sexual orientation, marital status. Recipients must live in Brevard county. The DSAB Emergency Fund will pay a maximum of $500 per individual with Down syndrome per year. Please allow 14 days to process the application.

    Emergency Fund

    The DSAB has a limited amount of money available to distribute to families to help with emergency financial needs.

    Eligible Expenses

    You can ask for funds for help that you are unable to obtain through other social service channels and need something tangible that will help solve an immediate problem. Since Brevard county residents are in the service area of the Down Syndrome Association of Central Florida and there are available restricted funds for 2020 in the DSACF Family Fund Scholarship, DSAB members should apply there first for assistance for 1) swimming 2) medical expenses or therapy.     Use for Funds

    Each request will be reviewed for eligibility by the DSAB Emergency Fund Committee.

    Eligible Recipients

    You must live in Brevard county. Any exceptions must be approved unanimously by the DSAB Emergency Fund Committee, comprised of the board president, board treasurer and executive director (if any.)

    You must be an individual with Down syndrome or a family member.

    Application Deadline

    Applications will be processed as they are received.

    Awarding Funds

    You will receive notification that your application has been accepted or rejected by the DSAB
